Professional oven cleaning: baked-on grease, trays and door glass

Enamel, catalytic liners or pyrolysis: check the coating first

Standard ovens have a smooth enamel interior that tolerates alkaline degreasers and oven cleaners. However, if the oven has rough catalytic self-cleaning liners (such as EcoClean), these must never be treated with harsh oven sprays or abrasive pads, or the micropores will be permanently damaged.

Pyrolytic ovens also have specific manufacturer rules for seals, telescopic runners and multi-layer door glass.

Cleaning the cavity, trays, racks and inner door glass

Baking trays, wire racks and side runners are removed and soaked separately. Inside the cavity, a matched degreaser and carbon remover loosens baked-on splatters across the base, roof and heating elements without scratching.

Special attention goes to the oven door: where brown grease streaks have run down between the glass panes, the inner pane on many models can be unclipped according to the manual so both sides get streak-free.

Once carbonised deposits are lifted, the entire interior is wiped down several times with clean warm water so no chemical fumes arise when the oven is next heated.
