Move-in cleaning: why a deep clean pays off before furniture
Right before you move in, your new flat is completely empty and every corner is openly accessible. That narrow window is when a professional move-in clean (deep clean before occupancy) pays off most: kitchen cupboards, bathrooms, window rebates, radiators and floors get hygienically clean before moving boxes and wardrobes block access.
The ideal timing between renovation and moving day
The best slot for a move-in clean is right between the completion of all painting or flooring work and the arrival of the removal van. Cleaning too early means tradespeople or kitchen fitters will spread fresh drilling and sanding dust.
Ideally allow a one-day buffer before furniture delivery so freshly cleaned and treated floors can dry completely.
What a thorough move-in clean includes
A pre-move-in deep clean targets all the surfaces that become hard to reach once furnished: built-in wardrobes and kitchen cupboards inside and out, extractor hood, oven, windows with frames, as well as bathroom ceramics and tile grout.
- Degreasing and wiping fitted kitchen units, drawers and cupboards inside and out
- Streak-free window cleaning including frames, rebates, sills and roller shutters
- Bathroom and WC deep clean including descaling taps, shower glass and grout
- Damp-wiping interior doors, frames, light switches, sockets and skirting boards
- Dusting radiator fins and deep-cleaning all hard floors and fitted carpets
After painting or refurbishment: post-construction fine clean
If the flat was filled, sanded or painted before move-in, fine building dust lingers on door rebates, inside cupboards and along skirting boards.
In that case, we combine the move-in clean with a post-construction fine clean and gently remove paint splashes, paste residue and protective films too.
