Photos for a clearance quote: what to show
A few good photos often replace the first site visit. They show how much needs to be removed, what the way out looks like and whether there are any special items. With these tips, ten to fifteen pictures are usually enough.
An overview of every room
Photograph each room from the door and, if possible, from the opposite corner. That way the whole space is visible, not just part of it.
Open full wardrobes and photograph inside them too. A closed wardrobe may be empty or packed to the top, and that makes a big difference to the work involved.
- Every room from the door
- Full wardrobes with the doors open
- Cellar, attic, garage and balcony
- Particularly large or heavy items individually
The way out
Access is at least as important as the contents: stairwell, lift, front entrance and the spot where a vehicle can stop. Photos of the stairwell and the dimensions of large furniture help to judge whether dismantling is needed.
If parking outside the building is difficult, a temporary no-parking zone can be requested from the town for the day. This should be arranged in good time.
Small tips, big effect
Take photos in daylight and in landscape format. Mark items that should stay with a note or sticker beforehand so they can be recognised in the pictures.
Personal documents, ID cards or photos of relatives do not need to be visible. For an estimate, it is enough to see the amount.
