Clearance
Partial clearance: making space without moving out
The whole flat does not always need to be emptied. Often it is about one room, a cellar or the furniture that no longer fits after a move to a smaller home. Daily life carries on in the flat, and the clearance has to fit around it.
Mark clearly what stays
Coloured stickers are the most reliable method: red for everything that is to be disposed of, for example, and green for what stays. That makes coordination easier and reduces the risk of mix-ups on clearance day.
Documents, jewellery, photos and medication are moved to a safe place beforehand, ideally a room that is not being cleared at all.
- Coloured markers for items to keep or dispose of
- Secure valuables and documents in advance
- Close rooms that will not be entered
How it works
The clearance goes room by room. Walkways, bathroom and kitchen remain freely usable. Routes are protected with fleece so that floors and door frames are not damaged.
If new furniture arrives later, one room can serve as temporary storage. What matters is that the order is agreed in advance.
Consideration in daily life
For older people or families with small children, a calm process with fixed times helps. A familiar person should be reachable or present on the day.
After the clearance, the empty areas are cleaned. If painting or setting up a care bed is planned afterwards, this can follow straight on.
